Joseph,

Thank You for taking the time to answer my question. I have also done a bit of googling and found a Saxon defintion of a half-hide 'being 60 acres'. But, I am so glad to get the real Bohemia terms spelled out for me.

Do you think they paid quite a bit of money at that time for this? Approx ? They lived in Brzotice.(about 35 mi SW of Prague) Would they have farmed??? What would they have done with that land? We have never heard any family member mention that they were farmers in their home land, so it's a mystery.

When they arrived in America in 1898 with 9 children their papers say they had $170.00, which seemed like quite a bit more money then most others on that boat. What do you think?
