I am looking for the family line of Lee and Janie Dodson Daggett og Bledsoe,Co.tn.Hoping some one in this family might be able to help me.Looking for John and Selina Johnson Dotson family line.John was born about 1847
Selina was born about 1863.
They are on the 1900 and 1910 census of Bledsoe co.Tn.
They had children:
Eules-1873
Mary-1877
Rebecca-1884
Edward-1885
Attie-1889
Newley-1881
I have hit a dead in with this family
I have thought of maybe trying to make other Dotson contacts
in this area as my Grandpa told me the other Dodson families
on Brockdell Mountain in Bledsoe Co.Tn.was distant cousins.
Some records show that Eules(My Grandpa) was born in Alabama.
Probably in Jackson Co.as my Father was born there in Hollywood Ala.
There is also a Janie Dodson Daggett who married a Rev.Lee Daggett
who is in my family line as told by my Grandpa.So that might be a place to start.
They was in and around Bledsoe,Co. tn.They both died in 1982.six months apart.
She was born abt.1895 and Lee abt.1888.I have obits on both.It says he preached in
and counties around Bledsoe for 60 years.She was a member of the Old Cumberland Baptist
Church I be lieve that is on Brockdell Mountain.
From about 1935 on my Grandpa lived on Brockdell Mountain
Also my Grandpa told me the spelling of the name Dodson was changed
in 1910.Some say it was changed by John because of horse thieves in the family.
My Grandpa told me that he ( Eules) changed it because a collage man told him
he was spelling it wrong,My Uncle made the comment that it was because of Horse
Thievies.
Maybe he just didn't want to tell me about the Horse Thief.
My Grandpa Eules also told me his line came out of Big Bottom area in White Co.,Tn.
Before that North Carolina.My Uncle Bill told me that John killed his Brother in Law or Son
In Law by accident in White Co. and that is why he left there said
he thought he stopped off in Van Buren Co.Tn. for a little while then on to Bledsoe Co.Tn.
I know Selina's Brother was still living in 1887.I don't believe it was him.
John didn't have a Son In Law by Selina's children at this time as they were born after this.
Maybe it was his first wife's family or a son in law by one of her children.
We are pretty sure it was a accident as John had a shotgun on him
and laid it down and hit him with a rock,we feel if he meant to kill him he
wouldn't have laid down the gun.If anyone can help please let me know.
