My late grandfather, Zina Lee Daniels (1900-1982) was the son of Van Daniels and Maud Davis. According to my grandfather, Van was the son of John Halbert Daniels and Mary Polly Daily. Van and Maud were married sometime in 1899, and my grandfather was born in 1900. I have located them in the 1900 Putnam Co. census. Van left sometime after the census was taken and Maud divorced him in 1903. Rumor has it that Van went off to Oklahoma or California, but we've never been able to substantiate this. According to the 1900 Census, Van Daniels was born in June 1878. The 1880 Census for Clay Co lists John Halbert's family, but does not include Van. My mother, Georgia Willene Daniels, can remember spending time, as a child, with John Halbert's children, Sallie, Hettie & Ernest. I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me determine what happened to Van Daniels, and explain the family connection. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
