Hi Ken, I e-mailed you probably close to a year ago concerning my grandmother Myrtle V Dalton b. April 27, 1904. Not sure of her place of birth, because in the 1910 census it says she and her mother and half sisters and brother were all born in Oklahoma. On my fathers birth certificate it reads that his mother was born in Indiana, but then on my fathers youngest sisters birth certificate. It reads that my grandmother was born in Oklahoma.I didn't have any other info on her, but the 1910 census in Lawrence County, Guthrie Twp. Indiana. I found out some new information on my grandmothers parents. Her fathers name was George Willis Dalton and her mother was Martha Elizabeth Armstrong. Joyce Shepard from the Lawrence County Historical Society in Indiana was able to come across a George Dalton obituary which mentions his brother as William. I can email you or anyone else interested in this scanned copy of it :0) Then my cousin and Uncle made a trip out to Indiana a couple of months ago and stopped into Indianapolis and was provided information on this same George Dalton's death just going by the date of death and name provided in the obit and the record at the courthouse. I wish they had bought a copy of it, but we were uncertain and still uncertain if this is in fact my grandmothers father. Dalton, George January 6, 1917 Male, white Died at City Hospital 524 W. Court Street D.O.B. - unknown 1849 58 years old Widowed Born in Indiana Father: George Dalton b. Kentucky Mother: Nancy Matlock b. Indiana Occupation: teamster Cause of death: pneumonia lobar Dilation of heart Doctor/Coroner - Dr. William Wise Buried- Bedford, Indiana Undertaker- A. C. Whiteside I don't know if my cousin copied down the information wrong on the year around he was born and the actual age of death, but as you can see. They don't add up. I will have to get back with her on that one. I'm in the process in getting a death certificate on him :0) My question to you or anyone who might have an answer for me is have you come across a George W Dalton who married a Martha E Armstrong? This same George appears to have been married to Happy Johnson and another woman named Mary (don't know maiden name), but located them in 1880 Arkansas census with his children from his first union (James and Roxanna or something of that nature) and then two additional children with Mary (Curty and Hiram) George is buried in Beech Grove Cemetery in Bedford, Indiana. Here's a link to check out: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Dalton&GSfn=George&GSmn=W&GSby=1847&GSbyrel=all&GSdy=1917&GSdyrel=all&GSst=17&GSob=n&GRid=15403622& I'm being told by others that this George could not be my great grandfather because of his age and the age difference of Martha (Mattie) Still Stumped :0( Any help anyone can offer I would be so greatful Laura (Shultz) Kidd Notify Administrator about this message?
