My husband's great grandfather was John Jackson Dalton, who was born in VA in Aug 1865. Sometime before 1894, he moved on to Kentucky where he married Annie Cannaday. He died in 1930 in Arkansas. On his death certificate, his daughter stated that his father was Jack and his mother's maiden name was Cochran. I see that there was a John J. Dalton, aged 15, living in the household of his grandparents, Martin J. and Nancy Cochran Dalton, in the 1880 census. This would be the right age, and might account for the death certificate maiden name of Cochran, if John J. were raised by his grandparents. I do realize that Martin and Nancy had a daughter who apparently remained unmarried and had a son John J., but this child remained in Carroll Co and married and apparently died there. However, is it possible that they had two grandsons by this name, maybe the first one by an unnamed son who had died? Does Martin J. have a will? I would appreciate any and all help you can give me on this line. Juli Dalton julidalton@gmail.com Notify Administrator about this message?
