Hi- I am looking for info on my great grandfather's (George Washington Dalton) first family. He was listed as being a widow when he married Faire Ellender Gray in Carroll Co.,Va. March 21, 1900 where they both were born and had grown up. No one in our family that I have talked to has very much info on this first family, and most knew nothing about it until we discovered it in George and Ellender's marriage record. But, after talking to an older cousin of my mother it was discovered that George had come back with his son from W.Va. where he and his first wife had evidently been living. After his wife had died his parents wouldn't let he and the boy stay with them, so he left again with the boy to parts unknown. When he came back again he did not have the boy with him. He then courted Ellender, they married and had a family of their own which they raised in Carroll Co. Va. There has been no mention in the family of that first family, so we do not know any names, or locations where they lived, or where he left that first son. Evidently he never went back for him, or possibly ever saw him again. I think this is sad and would like to find out more about that first family and the circumstances surrounding the events as they played out then. If anyone would have any info on this first family I would greatly appreciate you sharing with me!
