My maternal GGgrandparents were Daniel Dempsey and Elizabeth McIntyre (circa 1809 to 1881)and she also moved over to Dalmellington from County Antrim in 1840's/1850's. Daniel I think died in Ireland prior to the family move. The menfolk worked as miners in the ironstone and coal pits. The family, as known at present consisted of children -
John Dempsey 1833-1861 (married Isabella Joy)
Catherine Dempsey 1837-1906 (married John Parker)
Margaret Dempsey 1839-? (married Thomas Wiggans)
Neil Dempsey (my forebear) 1843-1900 (married Martha Wren)
William Dempsey 1844-1905(married Isabella McMullen)
Elizabeth Dempsey 1846-?
There may have been other, as yet unacounted for, siblings? Please be aware in case some relationship can be established to your Dempseys.
