Jack Dempsey is about the 4th or 5th generation, and I am doing this without looking from my database, from William Dempsey who came to America with his uncle,William Dingess from Dublin, Leinster County, Ireland. Jack's parents were Hiram/Hyrum Dempsey and Mary Pricilla "Cila" Smoot both born in Virginia/West Virginia and married in Logan County, Virginia what is now West Virginia. They moved from there to Conejos County, Colorado and between 1895-1900 they moved to Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. They divorced, and he married a woman named Lyle. Both of them died in Salt Lake County along with Jack's younger brother who was stabbed to death in a knife fight, and all three are buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City. Jack died in New York and is buried at South Hampton Cemetery in Sulfolk County along with his 4th wife. Hiram's parents were William Dempsey and Muhulda Blair both born and married in Logan County.
