Have I got news for you!

Sharon Richardson Staley has written to me via snailmail about this family, here are her letters (she isn't online, email me for her address)

March 4, 2000

Dear Mr. Maiara,

I stumbled on your name in an Olympia, Washington library and have just begun looking for my family's genealogy. I am including what I know in hopes that you can assist me further.

On my father's side of our family are the following names and birth dates and I'll list father/mother, grandfather/grandmother, etc. in that order:

David Glenn Richardson July 31, 1895 in Union Ridge (now Ridgefield) Washington
Bertha Louise Jones August 8, 1918 in Sellwood, Oregon

David Rialtus Richardson February 7, 1864 in Union Ridge, Washington
Maude May Dodson July 3, 1873 or 1878 in Eugene, Oregon

Asa K or H Richardson 1825 in either Utica, New York or Utica, Michigan
Martha Desmond January 18, 1831 at Harsen's Island (Desmond Island) Clay, Michigan or Canada

William Desmond August 8, 1794 Harsen's Island in Clay, Michigan (maybe it was part of Canada in 1794)
Testa Miar Brundage May 21, 1802 Algonac, Canada or Michigan

I have names and dates on Maude May Dodson's ancestry too if you are related and are interested. Beyond Asa, it's been guesswork on my part, so I haven't listed what I do have in this letter.

I believe I remember as a small child hearing my father talk about Timothy Desmond, but please understand that he was 50 years old when I was born June 4, 1945 and my interest was not in remembering family names at such an early age, regrettably. I have searched for family information in Mormon Church records, but I check everything two or three times before I claim a person as a legitimate relative.

Hopefully, we can be of assistance to each other. I sincerely thank you,

Sharon Richardson Staley
Olympia, Washington

PS: If you are not related, please respond also

Dear Mr. Maiara,

Thank you for your quick reply. I have found and am sending to you new information on my relatives named Desmond. I'm still optimistic that I can learn from you more about a possible connection genealogically. Please have patience as I am new at this search process.

The following Desmonds are:

William Desmond (English Army Captain) b. Aug 8, 1794 at Harsen's Island, St. Clair County, Michigan. William married Testa Miar Brundage, b. May 21, 1802 in Algornac, Canada. They married June 29, 1818 at Morpeth, Ontario (Kent County).

William's parents: William Desmond & Miss Barber or Barbary
Testa Miar's parents: William Brundage & Barbara Stafford

children:
Timothy              b. Jun 28, 1819       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
Nancy              b. Oct 27, 1821       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
Elizabeth              b. Sep 7 1824       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
Jane              b. Jun 8, 1826       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
John              b. Mar 4, 1828       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
Lucy Mary              b. Dec 10, 1830       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
Martha              b. Jan 18, 1832       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
Testa Miar              b. Nov 24, 1832       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
Rachel              b. Jul 31, 1835       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
Adeline              b. Dec 1, 1838       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
Lucy Amelia       b. Aug 29, 1840       Morpeth, Ontario (Kent Co.)
William              b. May 22, 1842       Harsen's Island, St Clair Co., Michigan
Lois              b. Set 19, 1851       Harsen's Island, St Clair Co., Michigan
Amelia Adelaide       b. Apr 18, 1852       Cheboygen, Michigan
Ambae Emmeline       b. Apr 19, 1854       Shasta, California

Hopefully my handprinting is clear enough for you to decipher. I've accumulated the Testa Miar Brundage genealogy back to Rye, Westchester, NY and Minisink, Orange Co., NY as early as 1660. It's delightful to know this information. Please let me know if this information is or is not connected with your family's information.

I sincerely thank you,
Sharon Richardson Staley

PS: I suspect that Lois, Amelia Adelaide, and Ambae Emmeline were children of Martha (not Testa Miar). Also, Caroline Atterton's grandparents names are William Desmond and Hanora Coakley.Raymond, I hope this is what you have been searching for. Good Luck!
