Researching TIMOTHY JOSEPH DESMOND of Schull East, County Cork, who immigrated to Boston, Mass. around 1881. In 1885, Timothy married Mary Ann Crowley in Boston. Timothy's parents were John Desmond and Margaret Regan. Timothy was a carpenter and housebuilder in Boston. He lived in Roxbury Crossing, Jamaica Plain, and East Boston. Six of his children survived past infancy. Vital data: Born 15 March 1849. Baptised on 1st April 1849, TIMOTHY, son of JOHN DESMOND & MARGARET REGAN. Sponsors: James BRIEN and Mary DESMOND. No addresses were recorded in these registers. Died in Roxbury Crossing, Boston, Mass. 1903. Timothy's sister was HANORA DESMOND -- Baptised 19th September 1852, HANORA, daughter of JOHN DESMOND & MARGARET REGAN. Sponsors: Patrick BRIEN and Mary CADOGAN. Baptismal sponsor of Timothy's childred in Boston was PATRICK DESMOND. Two likely Boston Desmonds named Patrick appear in 1870 and 1880 censuses (may be one and the same person): #1 Patrick Desmond, born in Mass. around 1845 to USA-born parents, a cabinetmaker in South Boston; wife Alice born 1852 in Mass., son Patrick born 1870. #2 Patrick Desmond, cabinetmaker in Roxbury, born in Mass. of USA-born parents, a widower, daughter Mary born 1872, son Thomas born 1874; their mother was Ireland-born. I do not know how Patrick Desmond was related to Timothy J. Desmond of Schull East. I would be grateful for information about the Desmonds of Schull. K Notify Administrator about this message?
