My maternal grandfather was from Springfield, MO in Greene County he was born in 1915 and died in Springfield in 1987, my grandmother was Frances (Gordy) Desmond and she was at least his second wife, they were married when he passed. I don't know if this is who your looking for, but like you I saw your post and throught there might be a connection.
