I think that your James is the grandfather of William A Dinsmore. Trying to find ancestors of Alvin K Dinsmore (he was born in PA and left home early to join the army - cival war) William A was his father but can't find William A. I found a couple of census of a William married to Rebecca in Washington Co, PA. Posted in the history of Washington Co. PA - a James (must be yours) bought land in 1795 and willed to sons John and James (John had a son named William who continued to live on the land but there is no other references)

Could you let me know your info on the descendents of James - possibly this is the William that I am looking for.
