Looking for info on my late grandfather, George Dinsmore, born in 1905. He worked for the US Railroad, was married to Mary (Mae) Fitzgerald, had three daughters, Frances (Boltas), Barbara (Pelletier), and Joan (Hargrove), and resided in Salem, MA for many years. Family stories say that George was one of thirteen boys, and that the surname, Dinsmore, was the maiden name of his mother. The tales claim that the family name had actually been "Dyke", but changed to Dinsmore when my great-grandparents divorced. I'd like to verify this, as I'm having a hard time believing a woman in the late 1800's divorced, resumed her maiden name, and changed the surnames of her thirteen sons. If anyone can shed some light, I'd appreciate it. I know two of my great-uncles names, they are Stanley and Ollis Dinsmore.
