I have summaries of the 40 years of diaries of one Dr. Henry Dixon, a medical doctor cum public health reformer who trained on cadavres obtained by the body snatchers of Victorian London to become a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons!! I would love to have him as a member of my family tree but can't find any links between his family and mine, except that he lived quite close to my Dixons in Essex. Hemry was born in the Finchingfield/Wethersfield area of Essex (England) in 1787 into a farming family with several brothers. His father was William Dixon, a farmer of Nortofts Farm at Finchingfield who died in 1831. Henry had 4 older brothers and 2 younger sisters (eldest brother died 1792; one brother was apprenticed to a miller). I haven't found Henry's birth certificate yet despite looking in parish lists. His wife died in childbirth so he had no heirs. He lived at Durwards Hall in Rivenhall (near Kelvedon/Witham) in his later life. Is there anyone out there researching Henry's brothers , ie the descendants of the William Dixons of Nortofts (his father William died 1831; Grandfather William died 1779, and Gt Grandfather John, farmer at Finchingfield died 1743).
