On the 19th day of July 1848 we the undersigned priest baptized Michael
born the day previous of the lawful marriage of James Blanchfield,
farmer and Mary Brennan of this parish. The sponsors Michael Phelan
undersigned & Eliza Purcell who as also the father could not sign. Ino

Note: item 2, p. 115.
He was the first child to attend school. He left St. Columban and went to New York sometime in the late 1870's, He was living with his older brother William in Brooklyn in the spring of 1880. Leaving New York he headed west to St. Louis where his brother James was living.

According to death cert. his parents were Michael and Mary.
Also it said Michael was born 1850 born New York. (The above two statements are more than likely incorrect, other documents prove them wrong.Also, Tombstone says he was born 1851)

By about 1882 he was married to Mary Crone, and English girl. On the 1900 Census Michael and his family lived at 1222 Missouri Ave. in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a laborer for the water department.
He died of pnuemonia on Feb. 3, 1921 at 3 p.m.
They lived at 3403 Eades Ave. at the time of his death.
He was buried at Calvary Cemetary Lot 2767, Grave 2. Depth D01 on Feb 7, 1921. Buried from Immaculate Conception Church. He was a member of the Holy Name Society there.
