Dixon Family Genealogy Forum

Hello,
I'm trying to learn more about my DIXON connection. On 11 November 1844 in Jefferson County, Mississippi (possibly Rodney or Church Hill), Rachael F. ALLEIN married Robert DIXON. The 1850 census in Rodney MS lists: Elizabeth Allein (79), Mary Allein (59), Rachael F. Dixon (40), E.W. Dixon <may be for Edgar Wood)(9), Juliet N. Dixon (7), and Robert F. Dixon (F may be for Francis, or Franklin). These Alleins came from Anne Arundel County, Maryland, I think, and Elizabeth is my direct ancestor, I believe. Rachael may be Elizabeth's or Mary's daughter. This Allein/Dixon married in 1844 but by 1850 Dixon is no longer on the census in this household, so may have died. Rodney MS was near Church Hill in Jefferson County. From the Allein line is a descendant named Edgar G. Wood and this may be where the "Edgar" comes from. James Gillam Wood Sr. married (1) Sarah Weems Allein, and (2) Martha Young, in Prince George County, Maryland. It is possible that the Dixon surname connects with Waters, West surnames. I can't find this Robert Dixon on a census prior to 1850 because the name is too common, plus I don't have a subscription to Ancestry.com for census access. No idea when Dixon died or is buried. Rachael F. Dixon was probably born about 1810. The Wood family probably came to Church Hill after 1810. No idea what became of the children E.W., Juliet N., or Robert F. Dixon except Rachael and Robert Dixon may be the ones who died 1864 in Church Hill but not sure if that is Robert, Sr. or Robert, Jr.
