This is probably an earlier Carroll Eades, but perhaps your Carroll was named after this one: Carroll (various spellings) Ead(e)s appeared on the Amherst Co, VA personal property tax lists from 1787-1799. Amherst Co. was formed from Albemarle Co. In 1787 only white males over age 21 were enumerated, which means he was born by 1766. There is no indication that he was Native American, and, in fact, I don't believe he would have been enumerated if he had been. In 1787 he was enumerated on the same day as Isaac Eades, my husband's ancestor, who is believed to have been the son of Abraham Ead(e)s/Edds of Albemarle/Amherst Co.
