Elder family of Lancaster PA and Rowan Iredell NC 1760-1800

I'm trying to determine if Rev. John Elder (1760s-1770s) of Lancaster Co PA is connected to John Elder (born c1755)of Iredell NC. A Rev. William Elder in Iredell NC is somehow connected I think (son or brother). John Elder married Mary Carson, daughter of Robert Carson dec'd 1798 Iredell NC.

The Carson family was from Lancaster and/or Chester Co PA prior to moved to NC.

Any hints?
