Rebecca, I can't help but wonder if we have a connection. My Elliott's were in Union Co. about the time you are speaking of.

Do the names of William, Noah, Elizabeth or Amanda mean anything in your research?

My Ggrandfather's mother was Sarah Jackson, first married to Andrew Mitchell. Sarah was indian - supposedly Cherokee/Chickasaw mix.

One family branch has them coming out of Macon Co., and another family branch out of Clay Co., N.C., and the last name being spelled Eliott.
