Fish Surname DNA Project update

Thought I'd share with everyone where our project stands at the moment. To date we have 14 participants and have identified 6 genetically distinct lines of Fish in the USA! Interestingly, only 2 of the 14 have been from the "much documented" line in Mass/CT/NY from the 3 immigrant brothers John, Jonathan and Nathaniel Fish! No one has tested that knows that they from the line including Preserved Fish or from ANY of the other New England lines. We've had several participants from lines in the southern US, midwest and west coast with a line known earliest in colonial NC being the most common and widespread! Also so far the tests have shown no Native American, African, or Ashtenazi Jewish ancestry (paternal lines only)for anyone tested. For those of you trying to determine where your line fits in with others, this is a great opportunity to get some clues! Be glad to share more info for those interested! There are some surname DNA projects that have over 60 participants...we could have such a valuable research tool if we could get that kind of interest in the Fish lines!
