Hi Johanna,
I found this today and thought I'd reply back to you. I have been searching John Fish for years and have been in contact with some others searching this John. I too am a descendant of Riley Samuel (Sam) Fish & Mary Jane Fuson Hendrixson through his son Hose Fish.
I need to let you know what some of us who've been trying to connect our John Fish with William Fish II and Sarah Clark have come up with. As to this date we cannot connect them. This is the brick wall we've come up with. I've been in contact with those that have been doing the line of William Fish II and Sarah Clark. I know they had 4 children and they have a John listed as a son as well as a Monroe James who married China Myatt. All the information I have to date leads to our John being James' brother especially the numbering and people associated with the marriage bonds of John Fish and Rhodia (Rhodice, Rhoda) Kees Aug. 14, 1818 in Wake Co., TN. After Rhodia died John married Matilda?. There's a few more things that point to them being brothers but don't have documentation that says they are.
Those researching James' family have told me that the story in the family and passed down thru' the years is that James' brother John left suddenly from NC went to GA, he was a Dr. and lived with his son and died. They have no information on John and there's no way to connect our John with their family just yet. If you do have that information I sure would love to have it to get past this brickwall of trying to figure out who John's parents and family are as well as the other researchers searching for John would love to know that information as well.
Also, do you have proof that John was b.abt 1795 and his death abt. 1873?
If there is anyone who has connected John & James as brothers out there, please contact me as I would love to be able to go through this brick wall. Thank-You!
I hope you understand what I typed here, it is very confusing trying to figure it out and try to type it in a coherent way too. I hope I helped you some. Sorry for typing so much just trying to explain somethings.
