My great-grandfather was August Heinrich Friese, born August 31, 1851 in Germany (although may have been of French descent) Died Septemer 12, 1927 near Davenport, North Dakota. He married Bertha Riebe, who was born May 15, 1862 and died August 5, 1936. According to family lore, he was a tailor - and she had schooling in Alsace-Lorraine?
He was son of Ludwig Friese and Wilhelmina Singler... We thought the name had something to do with Friesland...
Does anyone know more about them?
