Louisa Anne Whitley Pethel Louisa Anne Whitley Pethel died on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008. Born on February 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late James Brookes Whitley and Grace Camille Stembridge of Macon. She grew up in Macon and graduated Miller High School in 1959 and earned a degree in social work from the University of Georgia in 1962. Anne married the late Joe Penland Pethel of Gainesville in 1962. She is survived by her loving children, Benjamin Joseph Pethel and his wife, Regina, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Amanda Camille Kelley and her husband, Glen, of Niceville, Fla. She was known as "Granny Annie" to her four grandchildren, Benjamin and William of Knoxville and Madison and Jake of Niceville; brother, James Benjamin Whitley and his wife, Arlene McDonnel Whitley; and nephew, Whit, all of Sandy Springs. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and earned the rank of Life Master. Anne was a kind-hearted, fun-loving person as well as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by her friends and family. A private memorial service is planned.
