Searching for information and descendants of:
R.(probably Robert) "Levi" Martin is the son of William J. Martin (1818-1860: NC>GA) and Letty Pruett (1826-1891: SC>GA). Levi was born in Barrett's District, Lumpkin Co., GA (now part of Dawsonville, Dawson Co). In 1857 his family moved from Lumpkin to Cain's District, Gwinnett Co., GA. Two weeks after being enumerated in the 1860 census, Levi's father dies. His mother remarries in 1863 to Ezekiel P. Harvey (1813-1897: NC>GA).
Levi is only found in the 1860 census and no other census record I have found. He is not living at home in 1870 census. I have no marriage record for him. He sold his part of his father's farm in 1872, along with his siblings. No other record has been found until Feb 1905 newspaper article citing Levi Martin, in one article, and R.L. Martin in another article, had died in Gainesville, Hall County; left a wife and two children (no names given). He is buried in an unmarked grave in Gwinnett County, now part of Barrow County, where his parents, his younger brother, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins are buried.
