Hi Walt,
I read your request for information on George Boswell and since I had planned a trip to our library, thought that I would spend a few minutes seeing what I could
find, I am not sure what you already know about him and there is not all that much but will share what I found.
He had a brother named William who is said to have come from Warren County, Georgia. He built a house and a stagecoach station known as "Boswell's
Stop" around 1828. This was in Military District 904, Rough Edge.
George Boswell had a farm near, perhaps adjoining William's. His wife was Caroline Bates Boswell. In 1850 there were the following children: John (18); William (16); Hannah (15); George (13); Evans (12);
Jane (9); Susan (8); Martha (7); Caroline (5); and Amanda (4). George, Caroline and all the children were born in Georgia. George and Caroline were married on December 1 1831.
Caroline was the daughter of Anderson Bates, from Virginia, who was living in the same land district in 1850.
George's Will is found in Will Book A - 1828 - 1856. I can send you a copy if you don't have one. Any other information will take some digging. My guess is that records from Warren County as well as Wilkes County (There was a George Boswell in this County in 1801) should be looked at.
