The history of Gorham, ME has Samuel b.1797 and Elijah b.1799 as brothers. It has Samuel's son as Elijah Hanson Gammon b1819. The 1850 census of Maine has Elijah (b.1799) and Hannah's son as Elijah H (born c1832). I don't know if the H was also for Hanson like his cousin. Elijah H. (b.1832) is listed as Elizabeth in error on the 1860 Boston, MA census and then as Elijah H. on the 1870 Lee Co, IL census. I don't see him listed as Hanson on any census record. Do you have a dependable source showing his middle name was also Hanson? It seems there is a lot of confusion between the two Elijah cousins because both were of the same generation, both born in ME, both moved to IL and both had the same first name and middle initial. Elijah H. son of Elijah was a farmer. Elijah H. son of Samuel founded the Theological Institute.
