Debbie I have done a lot of searching on this Family and this is all I have found
June,1880 census for village of Red Jacket, Calument Township, Houghton Co. Michigan.
Moses Gardner, age 34 a Teamster, born in Canada
wife Elizabeth age 29, born England
Francis, son, age 5 born MI.
Joseph H. son, age 1, born MI.
Mary L. dau, age less then a year, born MI.
then I found in the Family Search
Joseph Gardner born Michigan, son of Moses Gardner and Elodie Gratton, married Annie Benoit, of New Hamshire, daughter of Moses Benoit and Malvina Dedord, on 8 Jun 1903, in Schaffer, Delta Co. Michigan

Joseph Gardner born 27 Sep 1878 Died Oct 1977 last address was Bradford, Washington, Rhode Island
