In 1850, Isaac Goss married Nancy Samples in Jefferson Co., AL. There appears to be a family tie to the earlier Isaac Goss b. abt 1796 and Nancy Howard of Union Co., SC, who later moved to Gwinnett Co., GA, and then on to Shelby Co., AL. They may have briefly gone to Tennessee, also. Three GOSS siblings married three HOWARD siblings. One of the daughters, Martha Emmaline "Patsy" Goss, reportedly married Joseph Howard, possibly part of an earlier Baptist missionary group from Orange Co., NC. Reportedly, their daughter was Sarah Catherine Howard Parker, who married Thomas Jasper Parker. Jump to neighboring Mississippi. Dr. Zeno S. Goss and Dr. Joel Judson Goss were brothers, the sons of Alanson Goss and Nancy Parker. Alanson Goss b. abt 1807 appears to have been the Rev. Alanson Goss. He may have been an early missionary to the Choctaw Indians. There was also a later Alanson Hines Goss, 1849-1896. Dr. Joel J. Goss married Mary Jane Parker of Attala Co., MS. Aaron Alanson Goss married Nancy Parker of Kosciusko, MS. In 1840, Aaron Alanson Goss was in Carroll Co., MS (actually there were two men, apparently both a Sr. and a Jr.). Later the family was in Leake Co., MS. Significantly, there is a GOSS Baptist Church tied to the family and founded in the 1890's in Goss, Marion Co., MS. Are any of these names verifiable by others? Are these family lines, in fact, related? Thank you for any assistance you may be able to contribute. Sincerely, Walter Goss, Montgomery, AL
