The Gosses may have had an Indian woman who helped them or worked in the store. I would believe that more than that Beulah was raised by an Indian chief's wife. The Indian lady may have been a babysitter. It looks like your Beulah was with her family from birth and then moved with them to Indiana where she got married. Often 'family stories' become a little 'larger than reality'.
