Does anyone know the cemetery of where George Gully (or Gulley) was buried in Harrison county, MS? This George Gully was an architect in the the Gulfport area and was married to Henrietta Cornelia "Henrie" (Simmons). a relation of mine remembers visiting a large cemetery in the 1950's with a wrought iron fence with "Aunt Henrie" presumably to visit George's grave.
Also does anyone know who this George Gully's parents were? I found out that "Aunt Henrie" donated a sword from a civil war ancestor of George Gully to Beauvoir back in about 1958. Someone at the site is checking into that as alot of stuff is in storage and one has to sort through lots of paper to find the info on it. Now Henrietta was born in 1876. I don't have a date on George but I did see on-line that a George Gully registered for the draft for WWI in Harrison county and this one had a birthdate of 1876. Have no idea if it is the same guy however.
Now where she met George Gully I don't know but Henrietta's father RTM Simmons served in the 40th AL infantry in the Civil war (from sumter county) and there was an E S gully there- might George be a relation to this other Gully- I don't know. then RTM (and family) moved to Scott county MS and later to Meridian in Lauderdale county. I'm not related to the Gully's but to the Simmons as Henrietta would be my 2gr-aunt. Have a great day!
