Hello there. I am a Gulley descendant and have at last checked on my postings. And I am descendant of the William you mentioned. I have been working for 30 years on the various branches of the Gulley-Gully tree. I have found that the name has been speed either way. For example, Jessie Gulley had a son who called himself Gulley. When family members moved from one area to another (perhaps unhappy with the family begin to write their name without the "e".
