I think I have seen a photograph of a Hollinshead father and son with their barge opposite the Hovis Mill on the Macclesfield Canal about the time you mention. They were stuck there because of low water in the canal.

It was part of an article in the Macclesfield Courier newspaper.

I think it was in a book my sister has, but I am not sure.
