Thank you for the information. I should have posted a follow up on my first post & apologize for not doing so.
My posting did generate a cousin of Charles' to find me and we are working on getting him a replacement stone. I am waiting for the V.A. to get me his enlistment date.
His body was brought back to Derry some years after he died and he is buried in Forest Hill with his family per town records.
His cousin gave me more information which I have posted on his memorial page at http://www.findagrave.com along with the rest of his family.
The stone I found was in the wrong section and will be properly destroyed when the new one is set. I am planning a dedication ceremony when the new stone is in & involving not only my Civil War group but the other Veteran's organizations in town.
