My grandfather was born Johan Erik Holm in Bingham, Utah on 3 May 1903. His parents' names were Johan Erik Holm and Maria Nygård Holm. Doing research in Utah archives and the Family History Center, I finally found at least some evidence of their existence: they are listed as John Holmes and Marie Holmes of "Varo, Finland", married in 1905. Grandfather later changed his name to John Erik Erickson, and he married Agnes Irene Smedjebacka, from Terjarv, Finland. They had one child, my mother, Rose Marie Erickson Halinen.
I have information leading me to believe that there are still relatives of my great-grandmother, Maria's side, living in Utah. Maria's sister's name was Ida Peterson. If anyone out there in e-space knows of Ida's survivors, or has any information concerning what happened to Johan Erik Holm (Sr) after his mining days in Bingham Canyon, Utah ended, please respond to my inquiry here at this forum.
