Hubbard Cherokee Connection

I am trying to locate additional info on the Robert A. Hubbard family. Robert was born about 1820 in South Carolina. He was a shoemaker and leatherworker by trade. He married a Lucinda (mnu) and later moved to Gordon Co. Georgia. In 1850 he is shown to have three children, Warren age 5, Lenard Franklin age 4, and Caledonia age 3, he had another child Jane latter born.

His son Lenard F. Hubbard married Mary Barlett, and around 1868 they came to Etowah Co. Alabama. Many of their decendents still live in the area today.

We can find no record of Roberts past or his parents. It is just as if he appeared out of nowhere.

My mother always said she was Cherokee on the Hubbard side. There are many Hubbard's on the Cherokee records, but I have been unable to tie them together. There were several Hubbards from Ocenee Co. S.C., that also came to the Gordon Co. GA area. If anyone has any information on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help, Danny Skillman, E-mail-- skilled@hopper.net
