Seeking info on parents and siblings of Elijah L. Bingham, b. 5/6/1835
in Logan Co, VA (now WV); d. 12/22/1889 in Zarah, Johnson Co, KS; m.
Lucinda Gullett on 7/22/1852 in Morgan Co, KY (Lucinda b. 12/3/1838
Morgan Co, KY; d. 12/9/1889 Zarah, Johnson Co, KS).

Elijah is first documented in the 1850 census in the household of David
Arnett in Floyd Co, KY where he is shown as age 15 and a laborer. David's wife,
Lydia, was a cousin of Lucinda.

By 1857, Elijah and Lucinda are located in Kansas City, MO (documented
by receipts). In the 1860 census, they are located in the household of
Joseph Regan along with an infant daughter, Nancy, b. 1860.

In 1863, a son, Albert Sidney, was born in Kansas City, MO.

In 1865, Elijah served in the Missouri Militia under Capt. James Gaunt
during the Civil War

By 1866, Elijah, Lucinda and Albert were located in Johnson Co, KS where
another son, William was born.

In 1869, John Henry (another son) was born in Shawnee Mission, Johnson
Co, KS.

In 1870, the Bingham family is located in Johnson Co, KS. In 1870,
Elijah was elected constable of Shawnee, Johnson Co, KS. In 1872, he
was elected as constable in Coffey Co, KS.

In 1873, another son, Joseph, was born in Johnson Co, KS. Followed by
another son, Elijah L., Jr., who was born in 1875 also in Johnson Co, KS.

Family rumor has it that sometime in the early 1880s, Elijah took his
family by covered wagon to the Oregon Territory; however, they were not
happy there and returned to Johnson Co, KS.

Elijah and Lucinda died 15 days apart in Johnson Co, KS of pneumonia.

Children of this marriage:
Nancy, b. 1860 Kansas City, MO; d. bef 1870
Albert, b. 4/11/1863 Kansas City, MO; d. 3/2/1902 Wright Co, MO; m. Ada
Mae Bousman, 2 children
William, b. 12/8/1866 Johnson Co, KS; d. aft 1900; m. Mary Baucom, 4
children
John Henry, b. 4/28/1869, Shawnee Mission, Johnson Co, KS; d. 7/25/1941
Belleville, KS; m. Anne May Wright, 11 children
Joseph, b. 7/27/1873 Johnson Co, KS; d. abt 1900 OK; m. Emma Holland, 1
child
Elijah L. Jr., b. 5/29/1875 Johnson Co, KS; d. aft 1910; m. Nancy
Elizabeth Evans, 3 children

I have a 1870 letter to Elijah written by a sister who signed herself
Jane Harvey. We believe, but have no proof, that this person was born
Mary Jane Bingham and she married Wesley Harvey who died in the Civil War.

We have no info on parentage or other siblings of Elijah.

Any info greatly appreciated.

Still looking for info regarding parents of my Laurenda HUBBARD b. 1816
in Caldwell Co, KY; d. after 1862 in Randolph Co, AR. She married
William Franklin ROACH on 5/12/1837 in Caldwell Co, KY. Her brother,
Archibald Hubbard, signed the marriage bonds for her.

I believe that my Laurenda's parents were Joseph HUBBARD and Laurenda
Unknown. Joseph is found on the Caldwell Co 1830 census very near the
William ROACH household (William ROACH and Keturah GRANT were William
Franklin ROACH's parents). In the 1840 Caldwell Co, KY census, Joseph
HUBBARD is found living next door to the William Franklin ROACH household.

Sometime during the mid 1840s, William Franklin ROACH and Laurenda
HUBBARD migrated with their family to Randolph Co, AR.

In the 1850 Randolph Co, AR census in the same township as William
Franklin ROACH and Laurenda HUBBARD's household is the household of
Laurenda HUBBARD, with her children (one of them being Archibald).

I believe that Joseph HUBBARD and Laurenda Unknown were my Laurenda's
parents. Any information on the info in this posting would be much
appreciated.
