Since my original posting I have discovered that it was definitely HUBAND that my two distant relations (Lettice Hensman born Pinchbeck 1836 and Lettice Sharman born Edenham 1874) had as their middle names. So I'm sorry, Hubbard is a "red herring" here after all.
