Tradition says George Hubbard came first to Watertown MA abt 1633. m Mary Bishop who d Guilford CT 14 sep 1675. per One Thousand Years of HUBBARD Hist, by Harlan HUBBARD, and Edward Warren DAY, 1895. GH b England 1594; d 1685 in Giulford CT; Representative to the first colonial court of CT in 1639; Deputy Magistrate 1652, 1655, 1660, 1662, 1665; m 1627 to Mary Bishop (c1610 - 1673) in Glastonbury Somerset England. Immigrated 1633 to Watertown MA and were among that town's first settlers; removed to Wetherfield CT in 1636. GH was assigned by the governing commission to survey Wetherfield and Winsdor CT. Represented Wetherfield on a comission and was fined one shilling for being late, In 1638 he approved to trade with the indians. 1649 GH fined L10 for trading a gun to an indian. 1640 was granted 195 acres at
Naubuc farms (now Glastonbury). Was an original settler of Milford 20 Nov 1639 rec'd allotment of 10 acres. 15 jan 1644 admitted to Milford church. Removed to Gilford by 1648, where Mary Bishop's parents also settled. 6 oct 1650 admitted to Guilford Church. abt 1650 listed as freeman in Guilford. 1652-1666 was deputy magistrate. 1666-7 was assembly member. 1670 was justice. Estate was inventoried 30 may 1683 valued at L564.8.6 sterling. Buried in Guilford. per E Baker. citing New Eng Fams Gen and Mem: 3rd Series, vIV, by Wm Cutter.
