I am anxious to contact descendants of James Hartin, b. 1809 Fairfield County, SC, d. 2/16/1841, Patoka, Gibson county, IN. Wife Elizabeth b. 1818 d. 11/18/1844 Gibson Co IN. James was the eldest son of Jacob Hartin of Fairfield Co,, SC. and inherited the Indiana land from his father, moving there about 1827. Believed to have two sons: (1) James J (Jr ?) b. ? d.? Gibson Co, IN, cpl/sgt 17th Indiana Infantry; wife Mary McKissick m. 3/4/1864, and (2).Jacob S (L?) b.8/1837 d. 2/20/1864 pvt Co H 17th Indiana Infantry. Son James is listed in a 1881 Princeton, IN, business directory as “ J. J. HARTIN. Blacksmith, and Manufacturer of Carriages, Buggies, Wagons, Plows, Farm Machinery, etc. Repairs will receive prompt attention. Horse Shoeing a specialty”. I have a portion of a Civil War diary believe to have been written by son Jacob S. Notify Administrator about this message?
