Mathias James family in Scott Twp., Montgomery County

I'm searching for the marriage record of one of the daughters of Mathias F. James and Louisa James, that probably took place in 1870-1872 in Montgomery County (although it might have taken place in adjacent Putnam County).

Louisa Alice James, b 21 Nov 1851, d. 8 Sep 1936, married George Nicholas Williams, b. 10 Jan 1841, d. 14 Jan 1914, some time after the 1870 census. Nick was in Montgomery County, Kansas then, and Alice was in her father's household in Montgomery County, Indiana. Their first child, Ida May Williams, was born 29 July 1872, in Kansas, so it is likely that the marriage took place some time in 1871, but I haven't been able to track down the records of that marriage.

The family stories seem to indicate that Nick went back to Indiana to fetch his bride after staking his claim in the opened lands that resulted after the Osages were pushed into Oklahoma (Indian Territory). That still doesn't tell me when and where they married, but I rather doubt that her father permitted her to travel to Kansas without marriage having taken place first.

Nick's father, Oliver Badger Williams, died 4 February 1871, (and is buried in the A.S. Farrow cemetery in Putnam County, near the intersection of US 231 and 36) so it seems likely that Nick returned to the area to attend to that duty about the same time.

Any help would be appreciated.
