Horners and Daugherty : abandoned gravestones in woodlot north of Crawfordsville

I was in a wooded area just north of Crawfordsville center of town (approx. 1 mile) at approximate GPS location : 40 deg 3'50.07"N / 86 deg 54'06.42"W with Crawfordsville resident Brian Bowerman on Sunday, May 25, 2008.

Brian showed me 3 headstones with the following information:

Susana Wife of Joel Daugherty died april 14, 1874 aged 62 Y 2 M. 20 D.

Abraham Horners Born March 2, 1779 Died June 9, 1855

Hannah wife of Abraham Horners Born June 5, 17??

The stones for the Horners are both broken and laying on the ground. There may be a couple of other smaller stones there ... but I didn't notice inscriptions.

These stones are just sitting in the middle of a wood lot in fairly dense tree & plant growth.

I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about these stones and this site. I found it very interesting and a little sad.

I'd also be interested to know more about the woods. It appears that at some time in the distant past this area had been used for brick making. Brian showed me a few small ponds that appear to have been excavated ... he believes ... for clay. There is a structure that appears to be a kiln (made of brick) and lots of broken bricks in the area.
