I am looking for parentage/ancestry of EVAN JONES born 1837 in North Carolina, most likely Lenoir County. He married Catherine MORROW on 28 Jul 1856 in Moultrie Co., IL and 3 children were born to them. Evan died at age of 28 on 10 May 1865 in St Charles, Arkansas while in the Civil War. Catherine then married Samuel Steele and had 4 more children. He had a brother, AMOS JONES (legal name William Amos) who was b. 10 Mar 1835 in Lenoir Co, NC and d. 11 Mar 1923 in Moultrie Co., IL. He married Mary Ann Steele 20 Sep 1857 in Moultrie Co., IL.Several children were born to themThese men both settled in Moultrie Co., IL. They both named their first girl children Francis. Also, from looking at the 1860 census there is a female named Sarah Jefferies/Jeffers b. c. 1822 NC who `might' be a relative as she is living in the next house from Evan.

These Jones' possibly lived at some point in Martinsville, MORGAN CO., Indiana area. I have wondered if they were Quakers, but that is only because of the areas they were known to be in—so just a guess. I do not find Amos Jones in the 1860 Moultrie Co. census and am not sure where he was at that time. Does anyone connect to this family?
