A kind soul from another resource sent me the obit, so I'll post it here, just in case someone else may also need it (if you do--let me know, since we'll be working on the same family line!)
Obit published in the Lafayette evening paper, December 9, 1967, page 5:
"Robert J Stevens, 81, of 1212 Central St., a retired New York Central Railroad worker, died in Home Hospital at 9:45 a.m. Saturday. He was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon from the Knights of Pythias Home where he had been a patient since suffereing a stroke in August. A life resident of Lafayette, he worked in the railroad yards in various capacities for 42 years until his retirement in 1952. Mr. Stevens was married to Mary Ketterer in 1922 and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving with the widow is a daughter, Mrs. Delos Keiper, the Journal and Courier correspondent in Rensselaer."
An undated funeral notice states: "STEVENS, Robert J -- Friends may call at Zahn-Schneider Funeral Home after 3 p.m., Sunday. Rosary Service there at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Funeral mass in St. Boniface Church at 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Seraph Zeitz officiating; interment in St. Boniface cemetery. Six grandchildren survive.
