Harvey THOMSON 1820s/30s Scottish indigo-planter in Java

Hi

I'm looking for more information on Harvey THOMSON of Java.

My own ancestor, Harvey THOMSON, married Antoinette BONNARD and had children:
- Elizabeth (perhaps not by Antoinette), born 1816-21
- Antoinette, born 1821-6, married Robert BROWN 1842
- Harvey, born 06 NOV 1825, Aberdeen, married Jessie CHALMERS 1852

"My" Harvey THOMSON was probably the son of James THOMSON and Janet DONALD, and if so was born in 1790. [his daughters were in the Aberdeen household of Isabella and Bathia SHAND in the 1841 census, and Bathia's mother was Janet's sister]

I've recently come across the record of a will, proved in Scotland 04/03/1839, of a Harvey THOMSON, Indigo Planter in the East Indies. He appears to be the subject of a PhD thesis by E.M.C. VAN ENK, ... The British and Plantation Development in Java. Harvey Thomson (1790-1837) and his financiers. [Amsterdam Free university].

There's a myth in my family that an ancestor ran away with a Javanese princess, hotly pursued by her brothers, which I'd love to nail down (I expect she become a princess only upon arrival in her marital home).

Before I pay a fiver for the will of a completely unrelated Harvey Thomson, can anyone match the planter to the family group at the top of my posting, or confirm that he had a different family?

Katherine

PS there's also a tenuous link between Antoinette and Robert BROWN's son, Harvey Thomson BROWN, who may possibly be the Harvey T BROWN of a similar age in the 1881 Texas census, whose mother was born in Java.
