John,
I have a Catherine A Garvey, 1839-1914, who was the daughter of James Garvey and Mary Marinan. She married a John Meehan in Davenport in 1864 and they lived in Rock Island Co, IL until 1879 when they moved to Crawford Co, IA. I have this family from John and Catherine to the present but aside from her parents names, I have no more data going back on the Garvey family. I do think that Catherine had a sister named Bridget who married an O'Brien and she died in Davenport in 1924. Would love to learn more about Catherine's background, yet it sounds like that is what you are also seeking.
