Hi Vickie, I came across your message and showed it to an Aunt of mine who comes from Crusheen. She wrote this down for me. The Butler family were very prominent and wealthy. They owned several estates and houses in Clare and Galway. they were landlords and what was unusual that they were Roman Catholics. They had property in Garlic Hill, Ballyline,Doon, Walterstown and two smaller houses Boscorbal and Cloone House. Just over the Galway border there was Cregg,Bunnaher and Castlecrine in Sixmilebridge. There are tomb stones in Quin Abbey out side Ennis in Co.Clare. William of Garlic Hill had one brother Arther who died young and six sisters. Emily who lived at home and was not in good health. Your grandmother Kathleen. Also a Mrs Hegarty, Mrs Gillespie, Mrs Murphy and Mrs Wilmot. William never married. There is a lot of reference to the Butler family in Thomas Coffey's Book ( The Parish of Inchcronan)ISBN 0946538 11 5 094538 13 1 You can also get information in the 1901 cencus of Co.Clare http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/1901census Hope this info is of some use to you. take Care and good luck with your search.
