I am trying to get started on a new line of research based on a short comment included in a page-long biography of my husband's great-grandfather, Charles Henry O'NEAL, Jr. (b. 1868 in Aldershot, England of Irish parents: Charles Henry O'Neal, Sr. and Alice G. [though possibly Eliza] QUIGLEY.) Charles H. O'NEAL immigrated in 1888.
The biography (written in 1924, in a book about the people of Hudson County, New Jersey, U.S.A.) gives the 'new' information that Charles and Alice also had a daughter "Ada" who was the wife of Robert MacNaughton, of Cork, Ireland. There is nothing to indicate that Ada and Robert came to the U.S., it is stated that Ada and Charles H. O'Neal, Jr.'s parents died in Ireland (so before 1923-24.) I also do not know if Ada and Robert were married in Ireland or in England.
I am not sure what resources are available to search online for Ireland (or England for that matter) and have not had much luck with finding this family in the British Isles. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
