Fanad is a peninsula with the county of Donegal. I guess it measures about 10 miles north - south and maybe 8-10 miles east west. I don't have a very exact location for Calendar and cannot describe it exactly - my knowledge of it came from my father who is a Friel, born in Fanad. However, when I queried him on the exact location, he was a little unsure and went as far as to ring his sister who still lives in Fanad and it was from her that he got the approximate location within the townlands mentioned.(Note that in Ireland, a townland is a term for a small area of land which in the case of Fanad might contain 10 or 20 very small farm or landholdings. There is a total of about 100 townlands in Fanad) The nearest small village to Calendar is probably Tamney which is maybe 5 miles away.
In terms of records, I'm afraid that there are none of any consequence - the earliest surviving national census is from 1901 and the local parish records only start circa 1845. There was a survey called the Tithe Applotments which listed the head of each household on a townland by townland basis but it dates from the 1830s. Unfortunately, there is very little by way of comprehensive records in any shape or form before that.
