HI GARITTY, I'M WAITING TO HEAR FROM SOMEONE WHO POSTED THIS: http://www.cousinconnect.com/perl/contactform.cgi?id=163732 Does anyone know of the Johnstons of Ballybofey? Alexander, b. 1748; Robert, b. 1770; James, b. 1788, married Mary Ann Crawford in 1813, dau. of Thomas Crawford, Atty. Their children: Thomas, 1814; Robert, 1816; James, 1818; George, 1819. MY POST TO THIS PERSON IS BELOW (I'LL LET YOU KNOW IF ANYTHING COMES OF IT ): Hi, My great-grandfather is Arthur Church Johnston, born in Ireland in the 1850s. We don't know who his parents were but in some earlier generation a Johnston married a Crawford in Ireland. Arthur Church Johnston named one of his sons Thomas Crawford Johnston. You stated Mary Ann Johnston's father was THOMAS CRAWFORD. James and Mary Ann Johnston COULD be the GRANDPARENTS of Arthur Church Johnston. His father COULD be one of James' and Mary's sons (Thomas 1814, Robert 1816, James 1818, George 1819) if one of them had 4 children named Susan, Sara(h), Lily (or Lillian) and Arthur Church. The 4 siblings left Ireland for New Zealand. Their parents were most probably Presbyterians. I will check our family history and send you birth dates, places and names, but at a glance it looks very promising. Please feel free to contact me by email. Bryan Johnston.
