McClean/McLean/McLain and Jackson - Carney Hill
Posted by: Cory McLain (ID *****8512) Date: March 06, 2008 at 14:40:07

I am looking for information on my ancestor Samuel McClean and his wife Mary (Jackson). I have found the last name spelled various ways (McClean/McLean/McLain) so it is difficult to track down my Samuel. I want to know anything and everything about his family and home in county Down. Here is what I do know:

Samuel McClean - born 3/18/1841
Mary Jackson - born 2/01/1839
Married 7/18/1859
Mary's father was named Robert Jackson.
They leased a house in 1863 from Nicholas D. Crommelin in Carney Hill.
They moved with their family to the U.S. (Iowa) in 1884.

I would like to know more about the McCleans and Jacksons while in Carney Hill or other parts of county Down. I want to know about their parents and also what happened between 1863 and 1884 while they were still in county Down.

I have lots more information about their children if anybody needs it.

Thanks in advance for any help with my mystery.
